In our Laser Center, Fractora has become our procedure of choice for patients who want to have a complete makeover of their skin. It is excellent for the removal of wrinkles, skin pores, acne scarring and age spots (pigmented discolorations). Strictly speaking, Fractora itself is not a laser but a very sophisticated form of temperature controlled micro-radiofrequency, combined with an external temperature control.
Fractora is ideal for patients who want to combine the best of two worlds: have only a single session treatment, but with minimal recovery, and still a very good result.
The results are very comparable to the fractional Co2 Laser, but the recovery is significantly less. Another very important advantage of the Fractora system is that Fractora has an effect of tightening the skin, which Co2 has not. Compared to the Fraxel, one will usually have a good result with just on session, compared to 3-4 different sessions with the Fraxel.
Fraxel laser does neither require downtime nor recovery. Despite that,Fraxel has got very impressive results, which are very comparable to the Fractional Co2 laser or the Fractora.
However, Fraxel usually requires 4-5 sessions for a good result.
Many patients prefer Fraxel laser, since there is no significant recovery.
First an anaesthetic ointment is applied to numb the skin.
3-4 passes of the Fraxel laser are applied to the treated area.
Usually patients only perceive non to minimal discomfort.
Slight redness can occur after Fraxel laser treatment, comparable to sunburn.
Consider Fraxel for:
– Fine lines and wrinkles – like crow’s feet and brow lines
– Surface scarring – erasing effects of acne and other scarring
– Pigmentation – minimizing the appearance of age spots
– Sun damage – helping heal dangerous skin damage
– Actinic Keratosis (AK) – a common pre-cancerous skin condition
Co2 laser is a powerful laser for resurfacing of the skin.
We also use it as a laser scalpel to cut tissue.
Co2 laser can give good results in acne scarring and scars.
The main disadvantage compared to Fractora is that Fractora tightens the skin, Co2 laser does not.
The first step will be of course to clean the skin area, which will be treated. You will then be given local as well topical anesthesia (in some cases, both) prior to the procedure. Sometimes, Diazepam may be given to lessen anxiety. This will facilitate a pain free and comfortable experience. Fractional CO2 Laser resurfacing will be done in a series of methodical strokes. A typical treatment on the face lasts for about 20 minutes.
Modern Co2 lasers are very safe and effective. Beware of hyperpigmentation (dark spots) after the treatment, hence we do not recommend this treatment during the summer months.
Co2 laser achieves a resurfacing of the skin. Irregularities and small wrinkles are removed. The skin is firmer and smoother after the treatment.
K-laser is an invasive Diode Laser which we mainly use for postoperative treatment of scars. We have made excellent experience with the application of K-laser in the initial stage especially after operations with large scars, especially breast uplift (mastopexy) and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
This laser system is also used for the treatment of older scars especially if they are painful. K-laser is also very popular for a variety of aesthetic indications. In our practice, we have found K-laser to accelerate wound healing, reduce the initial inflammation of scars and positively influence their final appearence.
